12 Days of Christmas--Day 7--Christmas-y tag!

Okay, so yesterday I was wracking my brain trying to come up with a post I could do for today. I had absolutely no idea what to post.
Well, a little later on I saw that one of the bloggers I follow, Shantelle H. from A Writers Heart, had done a post called the Christmas-y Tag. (You should totally go and check it out, it was a lot of fun to read! ) At the end of the post, she tagged anyone who wanted to do it. So, yeah, I considered myself tagged. ;)
Here are the rules:
--Post the picture on your blog
--Answer the questions
--Tag up to 12 bloggers
--Make up 10 questions for the other bloggers

Here's the picture. . .
And now to answer the questions!

1. What is your favorite Christmas treat?
Well, I really enjoy all the different cookies! But probably either Salted Caramel or Peppermint hot chocolate would have to be my favorite Christmas treat.

2. Are there any special traditions that your family has to celebrate Christmas?
Not really. We have a lot of small traditions such as having fruitcake for breakfast on Christmas eve, going to our grandparents on Christmas eve and watching "It's a Wonderful Life", and then mom makes a special breakfast Christmas morning, but those are all pretty typical. :) Oh, and we always read Luke chapter 2 on Christmas eve.

3. Do you enjoy getting presents for your friends and family? Do you buy your gifts or go the homemade route?
Yes! But I think what I enjoy most about getting the presents is seeing everyone open them! I tend to buy my gifts.  .  .simply because I'm not sure crafty and they all have given many hints about what they want. ;) So it's fairly easy.

4. Is it cold where you live? Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Well, as most of you know we live in KS, and, well. . .it could be colder. ;) We're actually having a pretty mild December this year. On Thursday it actually got cold enough that there were some snow flurries, but that's about all. Like my brother said, we're all dreaming of a white Christmas, but it's not coming. ;)
Yes, we have had two white Christmases that I can remember. I can't remember what year the first on was and the 2nd one was two years ago. That one was so much fun because nothing beats a snowball fight on Christmas day!

5. What’s on your Christmas list this year?
Books!!! Did I surprise anyone? Seriously though, that's pretty much all. I've had numerous people in my family ask what I want for Christmas and I always say books. They give me a questioning look and then they're like "Okay, but what do you REALLY want?"
Augh! Oh well. They don't quite understand my obsession with all that paper. ;)

6. What’s your favorite Christmas song songs?
I'm going to make that plural and have it say "Songs". There, that's better! ;)
I'll be home for Christmas (Bing Crosby's version, of course!)--I heard the Bells on Christmas Day--Silent Night--What Child is this--Angels we have Heard on High--Breath of Heaven--White Christmas--Good Christian Men Rejoice

7. What is your favorite Christmas memory?
Probably two years ago when we had a family from church over on Christmas day. We had so much fun baking and singing and then of course there was the snowball fight! :D That was also the year my dad had been diagnosed with cancer, so it was extra special for us.

8. What are you reading in December? (Anything festive?)
So far I've read. . .
--"Blue Skies Tomorrow" by Sarah Sundin
--"Where Treetops Glisten" by Cara Putman, Sarah Sundin and Tricia Goyer,
--"Christmas at Rose Hill Farm" by Suzanne Woods Fisher
--"A Christmas Gift for Rose" by Tricia Goyer
--"Christmas Roses" by Amanda Cobot
--"Twice Loved" by Wanda Brunstetter
As well as as few Christmas short stories, which I am thoroughly enjoying!
With with the exception of the first book, they've all been Christmas! And my favorite of all those would have to be "Blue Skies Tomorrow". . .because honestly, the characters are so amazing! (especially maybe one in particular. . . ;)

9. Are you an organised little elf or are you still shopping/preparing on Christmas Eve?
Shopping on Christmas Eve? *shudders* That would drive me crazy, although it actually happened one year. . .never again!
I usually have most of my gifts all ready by the second week in December although I have taken a bit longer then usual this year.
I do tend to be pretty organized, because that's just how I am! :)  Sometimes my organized self takes over, much to the dismay of some of my family members. . .

10. How early do you start to get into the Christmas spirit?
Day after thanksgiving/first of December. It depends.

11. What’s the menu for Christmas Day?!
Creamed eggs on toast for breakfast. Lunch? Ummm, dad's specialty? I don't know, dad usually makes it on Christmas, so we'll see! Supper is roast, potatoes, green beans, crackers and cheese spread, sparkling cider, and then cheesecake, pineapple pudding pecan pie and maybe apple pie? Not sure about that last one! :)
And of course we'll have tons of Christmas treats through out the day!

12. What makes it FEEL like Christmas for you? (Weather, specific tradition, food, smell, person, etc.?)
It doesn't feel like Christmas until we take a trip to the mall and see it all decorated! Seriously, it's beautiful! My mom took me there a couple weeks ago and I stepped inside and I'm like "yep, it's Christmas"! All the decorations the stores have, the smells, the Christmas music play, the shopping. That means that Christmas is almost hear! :D

13. If you were to start a new Christmas tradition, what would it be?
Ummm, I honestly don't know! Maybe an hour set aside every night to read Christmas books in the living room as a family. That would be fun! :)

14. What Christmas movies do you like to watch this time of year or what’s your favorite?
"Silent Night" and "An Avonlea Christmas", both which I reviewed here are sooo good! Definitely favorites! "Molly: An American Girl on the Homefront" is really good too. . .which reminds me that I still need to watch it sometime! I'm also looking forward to finishing "Holiday Inn". I started it with my siblings and we're about halfway through. Really good so far!! I'm also excited to see "White Christmas" for the first time!
"It's a Wonderful Life" is also really good!

Well, that's all the questions! I'm not going to think up anymore questions or tag anyone because all the bloggers I know are already pretty busy! If anyone would like to answer the same questions I did, I'd love to see your answers!!

  2. YES, YES, YES!!!!!! *screams her excitement to the world* Hooray, hooray!! *throws confetti and dances around* Yay!!! *collapses into chair to explain to you* ;)
When my mom asks me what I want for Christmas, I say books. I jokingly add "I have a big, long list." She replies, "I want a copy of it." Me: "uh....."
So yeah. B-) I was thrilled to see that SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS MY PLIGHT!!!
It's always sorta been something we do around here that we can ask for three things. (That originating with the wise men's three gifts.) Mom insists that books all fall under ONE, so I've yet to figure out my 'third thung'. ;)
Thanks so much for doing this, Jesseca! After seeing Shantelle do it, I'd considered it too. :)

I'll bet I know that special character from "Blue Skies Tomorrow"....He's 'the best' along with his brothers... ;)

    1. Oh my goodness!!!! It's sooo true!!! My Grandparents did the "three gift" thing last year and I had the same problem. Grandma told me Books only counted as Frankincense. :P But then. . .I still ended up getting more books then anything else. ;)

Oh, he is the BEST!!! He's above his brothers! Augh! I love him so much! Seriously, I am hoping I gave enough hints to get a copy of "Blue Skies Tomorrow" for Christmas because I just can't bear giving up the library book. ;)

    2. Yep. ;) My mom is like "but Tucker wants this and this and this." I'm like "but I'm not like him!" :)
Um...nope. Walt's still my favorite. B-) That's how I was when I had to turn in "A Distant Melody". That whole series is on my Christmas list. :)
